(1)far 通常只指「空間上的遠距離」, 只有在「How far?」這句問話中, 才可指遠距離或近距離, 間或也用以指時間上的距離, 如:

(2)distant指 「 遠隔的」, 可表示時間、空間的遠距離, 指時間時距離可大可小, 但當指極大的距離(如太陽與地球的距離)時, 則用distant,不用far; distant還可指疏遠的血統關係, 如:
