(4)precarious 雖然有「危險的」釋義，但在一定的語言場合裡可以漢譯為「懸乎」，因為這個詞並不包含任何實際意義的危險，所以它與 dangerous 和 hazardous 的含義相去甚遠。例如當你看到雜技演員頭上頂著一疊碗時，同時又和別的演員組成了疊羅漢， 這時你不禁為他們捏著一把漢，說：「啊，多懸！」(Oh,how percarious!)。這時的危險不會招致傷亡，故應當用 percarious。此外，這個詞所表示的危險總含有不穩定或不保險的意義。a percarious occupation 指的是不知什麼時候被解雇，a precarious health 指的是不知什麼時候會病倒，但都不會有死亡的危險。
